Permanent camps and small lodges

Under canvas with added luxury

I only like to use small, owner run lodges and tented camps. The personal service provided suits what I do, and sitting around a campfire, under the stars with other travellers sharing the days events, is an important part of the safari experience.

Part of being on safari is to hear the sounds of the night, the old fashioned hurricane lanterns swinging in the wind and having your own wide ranging view.

All of Tanzania’s National Parks are zoned into different use areas, and tented camps are usually situated in areas of outstanding beauty, away from the lodges and high use areas. This gives you excellent game viewing on your doorstep and a sense of privacy as soon as you depart on an early morning game drive.

All of the permanent tented camps I use have flushing toilets, wooden furniture and large, comfortable bedding. Combined with well-designed LED lighting, which is bright and energy efficient. In tented camps you have the best of both worlds, a bush experience without compromising all the comforts of home.

Being under canvas is what being on safari is and should be
